Ahead of this week’s Las Vegas GP, Bowers & Wilkins has announced its highly anticipated McLaren Edition Px8 S2 wireless headphones in collaboration with McLaren to celebrate their decade-long partnership.
Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren held a special event located in the Wynn hotel’s McLaren store with a fire-side chat with representatives from Bowers & Wilkins, McLaren and F1 leaderboard frontrunner Lando Norris, where they talked about the partnership between the brands and the new McLaren Edition Px8 S2 headphones which were revealed towards the end of the event.

High-res sound and pro-grade customization
Audiophiles will appreciate the new ultra-high resolution 40mm Carbon Cone drivers which are angled in each earcup to help lower distortion and improve resolution and imaging.
Rather than just having preset modes for your favorite music genre, Bowers & Wilkins has an app that you can download and use to customize the EQ settings specifically to your musical taste.
You can also download high resolution streaming services like Pandora and Tidal where the headphones will have personalized recommendations tailored to the streaming service.
I didn’t notice Apple Music or Spotify as an option, although Spotify just announced its high-resolution streaming service back in September for select premium subscribers, so it’s very possible that Bowers & Wilkins will have an update to its app in the future.

I was able to briefly spend some time trying the Px8 S2’s and walked out impressed by how easy they were to pair to my phone and get the Apple app up and running.
A tad heavy on the bass side for me at first, they were easy to adjust through the EQ settings which is a nice touch. The Px8 S2 also didn’t feel too heavy and so I don’t anticipate any fatigue while wearing them during long listening sessions.

The McLaren Edition Px8 S2 Wireless headphones are retailing for $899 exclusively on the Bowers & Wilkins website and join the Pi8 and Zeppelin McLaren Edition as part of the McLaren portfolio of products.
