Every year, during Black Friday deals season, Amazon devices are among the best discounts you can find, with prices slashed by up to 50% on almost every available device, including those more recently released, like the Echo Show 8 and 11.

However, not all deals are made equal, and particularly on some of those new devices, I think it's worth holding out for the next deals event when the prices might drop lower. Right now, the new Echo Show 8 is $159.99 (was $179.99) at Amazon US or £159.99 (was £179.99) at Amazon UK, for example; a respectable $20 / £20 discount, yes, but future sales could see this saving double, and I'll be explaining below why I think it's well worth the wait on several fronts.

Save US$20Amazon Echo Show 8: was US$179 now US$159 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼If you do want the newest of the new, the Echo Show 8 is $20 off in its introductory Black Friday deal. It's a neat saving on Amazon's latest smart display with its fresh, floating display design and zippy AZ3 Pro chip, plus it comes with Alexa+ support out of the box. If that's of less interest, you're likely better off with one of the deals below.

Save US$25Amazon Echo Show 11: was US$219 now US$194 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Along a similar vein, the new Echo Show 11 packs much the same specs as the Echo Show 8 above, but with a larger display well-suited for kitchens and offices where bigger real estate makes for easier viewing even across the room. Its $25 introductory Black Friday deal is a small saving, but gets you the latest and greatest from Amazon.

Save US$45Amazon Echo Show 15: was US$299 now US$254 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The latest Echo Show 15 just recently saw a big refresh, bringing its specs up to speed and offering a better Alexa experience. These were the first smart displays from Amazon to see the Alexa+ treatment and, naturally, therefore offer one of the better user experiences with Amazon's gen AI-boosted subscription service, and I'd say they're a slightly better buy this Black Friday if that's your end goal.

Save US$30Amazon Echo Spot: was US$79.99 now US$49.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The Echo Spot pairs a 2.83-inch touch screen with a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker, and it's a great bedside companion I use every day. Today's Black Friday deal slices $30 off its list price, a 38% saving not to be sniffed at.

Save 45%Amazon Echo Pop: was US$39.99 now US$21.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼I didn't love the Echo Pop when I reviewed it due to its high list price, but when it's on sale for just $21.99, it's a much more appealing offer. It's great for smaller rooms and bedrooms, given its less powerful speaker compared to larger models.

Save 36%Amazon Echo Dot: was US$49.99 now US$31.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼For better sound, Amazon also has the Echo Dot for $31.99. It's Amazon's best-selling model for a reason, packing the same Alexa smarts we know and love but with the added benefit of a temperature sensor and solid smart home functionality.

Amazon Echo Show 5: was US$89.99 now US$54.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Though its wedge design looks increasingly dated alongside newer, more sophisticated models, the Echo Show 5 is on sale for only $54.99 and makes for a great little display around the home. It features a compact 5.5-inch display, impressive audio for its size and price point, and, naturally, a solid Alexa experience. It's likely the next display to see an upgrade from Amazon, too, which may well come with a list price increase; so this year's Black Friday sales might be one of the last chances.

Today's best Amazon Echo Black Friday deals in the UK
Save £20Amazon Echo Show 8: was £179 now £159 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼For the snazziest, newest gadget where money is no object, the Echo Show 8 is £20 off in its first-ever Black Friday deal. While we won't have the benefit of Alexa+ in the UK for some time, the redesigned floating display and zippy AZ3 Pro chip might be enough to justify the otherwise moderate savings. It's a solid device, but if the best deal is your primary concern, read on for my recommendations.

Save £20Amazon Echo Show 11: was £219 now £199 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼It's a similar story for the Echo Show 11, which is functionally the same as the Echo Show 8 above but with a larger display well-suited for kitchens and offices where bigger real estate makes for easier viewing even across the room. It's £20 off in this introductory Black Friday deal, which is a moderate saving but gets you the latest and greatest from Amazon.

Save £70Amazon Echo Show 15: was £299 now £229 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼It's rare the UK gets such a significantly better deal than the US, but here it is: the Echo Show 15 is a whopping £70 off for Black Friday, its lowest-ever price, and one of the best deals on Amazon devices I've seen so far. I loved testing mine as a kitchen aid, and while it's not quite as sophisticated-looking as the new Show 8 or 11, the fact that it's wall-mountable and can work in landscape or portrait orientation really sells it for me.

Save 44%Amazon Echo Spot: was £79.99 now £44.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Perfect as a bedside table companion, the Echo Spot, with its 2.83-inch touch screen with a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker, is Amazon's answer to the smart alarm clock. It's fast become a fan-favourite during sales events, and it's well worth it at this record-low price.

Save 45%Amazon Echo Pop: was £39.99 now £21.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼We've seen this model drop as low as £17.99 in years prior, but this low price still slashes 45% off the list price of Amazon's most affordable Echo Speaker. In my review, I noted its retail price was far too lofty for its quality and specs, but at nearly half price, it's a much more attractive offering.
View Deal
Amazon Echo Dot: was US$54.99 now US$29.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼For a more robust sound from one of Amazon's smaller speakers, the Echo Dot is your go-to, and one of the brand's best-selling devices. As well as the full Alexa experience and decent audio specs, this model features a temperature sensor.
View Deal
Amazon Echo Show 5: was £89.99 now £49.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Small but mighty, the 2023 Echo Show 5 still features that slightly chunky wedge shape sported by Echo Shows of yore, but if you can look past that, it's still a very capable smart display. It offers a compact 5.5-inch display and impressive sound for its size.
View DealWhat the decision boils down to for me is Alexa+. Whether you're in the US, where it's currently rolling out, or in the UK waiting for launch, Alexa+ readiness is the main reason to upgrade from older speakers. While a majority of Amazon's Echo devices from recent years will be compatible with the service, newer chips are more capable of handling the demanding AI workloads, plus newer models help to expedite the process of signing up to the service in the US, where it's already launched.
The Echo Show 8 and 11 are undoubtedly a worthy investment if you're design-conscious; the floating display with a beautifully thin screen and more modern look overall is lovely, and a marked improvement to my old wedge-shaped Amazon Echo Shows, but they'll be on the market as the latest and greatest for 3-5 years if past release cycles are anything to go by.
Over that time, these models will almost certainly see bigger discounts, so jumping the gun to buy one now only really makes sense if you hate the older designs, want Alexa+, and/or just have to have the best of the best. If that's the case, make sure to check out the trade-in offers if you're in the UK.
