The National Weather Service (NWS) issued tornado warnings for areas of Mississippi and Louisiana as "dangerous storms" threatened the states early on Tuesday morning. Alabama was also hit by severe thunderstorms and high winds.

- NWS tornado warnings were issued for areas around Lacombe, Slidell, and Pearl River in Louisiana, and for Meridian Station, Lauderdale, Daleville, Suqualena, and Tamola in Mississippi until 5:15 a.m. local time.
- The warnings were prompted by severe thunderstorms in the area throughout the night and into the early morning that are capable of producing tornadoes.
- NWS alert: "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
- Severe thunderstorm warnings also in place for areas of Alabama with 70 mph winds: "Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include… Gadsden, Pell City, Leeds, Moody, Rainbow City, Attalla, Hokes Bluff, Springville, Odenville, Lincoln, Glencoe, Margaret, Argo, Ashville, Riverside, Sardis City, Ragland, Ohatchee, Steele, and Altoona."

NWS issues severe thunderstorm warning from Birmingham, Alabama center
Severe thunderstorms are moving across parts of Alabama early on Tuesday, with a warning in place until 6 a.m. CST.
There are wind gusts of up to 70 mph. The NWS said the affected locations include Gadsden, Pell City, Leeds, Moody, Rainbow City, Attalla, Hokes Bluff, Springville, Odenville, Lincoln, Glencoe, Margaret, Argo, Ashville, Riverside, Sardis City, Ragland, Ohatchee, Steele, and Altoona.
"Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings," the NWS alert said.

Will it snow on Thanksgiving? For some Americans, yes
A weather forecast issued on Monday by the NWS shows heavy snow socking the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest and Great Lakes region this week ahead of Thanksgiving, with some storms poised to strike on the holiday.
Snow is predicted to start in North Dakota on Tuesday morning, then shift to central and northern Minnesota by that night.
The heaviest snow will likely fall Tuesday night into Wednesday across Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Up to 12 inches could fall in North Dakota and Minnesota, with up to 3 feet expected downwind of Lake Superior.

Severe thunderstorms come as Thanksgiving looms
The severe weather in areas of Mississippi and Louisiana threatens to complicate travel ahead of Thanksgiving on Thursday, one of the busiest times of the year for road, rail, and air as Americans hop across the country to be with friends and family for the holiday.
The AAA forecasts that 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from their homes starting today and ending Monday, December 1, for the Thanksgiving period—a 1.6 million increase on the year before. Nearly 90 percent of those will travel by car, the AAA said.
