Mattel has released a wave of retro-inspired Polly Pocket compacts over the years, and despite being well into my 30s, I want every single one. They're a nostalgia-fuelled combination of the original '90s toys and iconic TV shows and movies, but the Polly Pocket x Wicked Compact makes me green with envy.
The little emerald-colored compact is available for $32.99 at Amazon / £34.99 at Amazon UK, and is one of the best retro gifts I've spotted in years, as it looks almost identical to the toys I had as a kid, but with a little Wicked makeover. Instead of Polly with her curly yellow perm, there are tiny toys of Elphaba, Glinda, and the Wizard himself, in the exact same '90s style. Even Glinda's pink bubble makes a tiny plastic cameo in this set, and I can't think of a better gift idea for fellow Polly Pocket and Wicked movie fans.

Polly Pocket x Wicked Compact | $34.99 at AmazonIf you have a friend who's equal parts obsessed with the iconic 90s toys and the Wicked musical/movie (especially as Wicked For Good just hit theatres), then this is the perfect holiday gift. The small compact features locations from on Shiz and Oz, and includes adorable '90s Polly-inspired figures based on Elphaba, Glinda, and the Wizard. The detail and Easter eggs featured on this tiny toy are bound to change a Wicked fan for the better.UK: £34.99 £24.99 at Amazon
View DealThere are few retro toys I love more than an old-school Polly Pocket compact. To this day, my childhood '90s Mermaid Story Book Polly Pocket set is my pride and joy, but I was never a fan of the later generations when Polly got bigger and not so pocket-friendly, which is why I love this Wicked compact and the rest of the Polly Pocket Collector line.

Each time a brand-new toy in the Collector lineup is released, I know it's bound to be filled with adorable little references, and this Polly Pocket Wicked x Compact is no different. If you look closely, you can see Elphaba and Glinda's bedroom on the lower half of the toy, where the famous "Popular" song and scene take place. The detail, despite its tiny size, is glorious, as you can even make out tiny books on a bedside table, and makeup bottles next to Glinda's bed.
My absolute favourite inclusion of this set, as someone who is equally as obsessed with the Wicked film, musical, and the Wizard of Oz as a whole, is the fact that you can spot the Wizard's looming golden head at the top, which can open up and reveal the "man behind the curtain."
There have been a ton of retro-style Polly Pocket collabs over the last few years, so if you're loved one isn't a Wicked fan, there's bound to be a compact that's more their style. Everything from the US Office TV show, The Addams Family, and even the '90s classic Clueless movie has had a Polly Pocket makeover.Polly Pocket x FriendsPolly Pocket x CluelessPolly Pocket x Peanuts
Out of the entire Polly Pocket Collector set, which includes compacts based on everything from the US Office TV show to Netflix's Stranger Things, this Wicked toy feels like the most perfectly on-brand addition to the line. Back in 2001, Mattel released an official Wizard of Oz toy set based on the 1939 movie, after it acquired the Polly Pocket line from toy manufacturer Bluebird.
That set wasn't a compact, but it was just as tiny, depicting everything from the yellow brick road to Emerald City, which actually lit up. There were even insy winsy toys of Dorothy, the Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and more. Even the original Wicked Witch was represented, though she looks a lot cuter on this new Wicked Polly Pocket Collector Compact.

If you know a Wicked fan who also grew up with the original toys, this will make the perfect gift over the holidays - especially if they're still sitting in that post Wicked-movie glow.

Rosalie NewcombeSocial Links NavigationHardware EditorEver since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
