By James BrizuelaShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberBaltimore Ravens All-Pro tackle Ronnie Stanley is a major reason for the team's success, especially when it comes to protecting quarterback Lamar Jackson. As a veteran leader of the team, Stanley sat down with Newsweek Sports to discuss how the Ravens' locker room has been amid their winning streak, chasing a Super Bowl, and more.
Stanley also partnered with USAA in a campaign for My Paws My Cleats, which brings awareness to K9s for Warriors, an organization that pairs service dogs with veterans in the Baltimore community, and the Ronnie Stanley Foundation – who's mission is to improve the quality of life for rescue dogs and individuals in need.
Stanley wore the special cleats on Sunday when the Ravens took down the New York Jets.

Ronnie Stanley on My Paws My Cleats With USAA
..."Yeah, so we partnered with K9s for Warriors, and they provide service dogs to veterans, and it just had a lot of similarities with what I do with my foundation, which is take dogs from shelters, give them house training and provide them to people in the community who happen to be vets as well. You know, they also do a lot of work with, you know, military members across the country. And I'm coming from a military family, so there was just a lot of synergy between those two."
What are the vibes in the locker room amid this winning streak?
"You know, it's good, you know, the vibes are good, you know, but there's a lot of work to be done. I think guys are just focused on, you know, fixing what needs to be fixed, and finding, yeah, I think that's just been our focus."
Was there any change that helped to propel this winning streak?
"You know, I don't necessarily know if there's anything specific that happened, but I think a lot of the team got healthy here. I think that was one thing. And I think it started to click a little bit more, started just a little bit different, maybe start to change our way of thinking a bit."
There has been some concern with Lamar Jackson being impacted by his hamstring injury. He isn't running or getting as many touchdowns. Is there any validity to this concern?
No, I wouldn't say so. I still say he's the most athletic player in the league, without a doubt, the most athletic quarterback."
Right before Lamar returned from injury, he had said the Ravens were treating every game like it was 'win or go home.' Is that still the vibe?
"Yeah, no doubt. I think shifting that focus, like win one game. Forget about the rest. Far ahead. No, not thinking big."
For you personally, you had some injury issues earlier in your career. After playing a full 17-game season in 2024, how did you approach your recovery process, and what changes have you made to maintain your health throughout this season?
"Yeah, no, I was very aggressive in that process, and still am today, and do a lot and try a lot of different things. No, I'm very open to trying new things, modality, things that I feel like make me a better player, better athlete, and yeah, just kind of taking a lot of time to build a team that able to help me come back to who I am today."
The NFL is finally recognizing offensive linemen with the 'Protect of the Year' award. And does it add any kind of extra motivation to play at a high level?
"I think that's really cool, that they're showcasing that and showing some appreciation for that. I always thought why there wasn't something there was always, like a top pass rusher, was a top defender, but there wasn't a top blocker. I think it's a really cool thing, but that's really never been a motivation of mine. Any accolade, like a personal accolade, it's always a Super Bowl. Those personal accolades that come along with it are just kind of cherries, yeah, absolutely."
The Ravens have always kind of been, like those fringe contenders, either making it to the AFC Championship or just right before that. Like, what can the team do to get over that hump and finally make it to the big game?
"I think I'll just play our best game, play to our standard. I feel like, you know, really hard to be in those moments. Sometimes. I don't think we're at our best."
