Vikings quarterbacks have been besieged by injury this year.
McCarthy missed five games with a high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 2. He was ruled out for Sunday's game due to a concussion he suffered in Minnesota's 23-6 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.

Veteran quarterback Carson Wentz is out for the season after he underwent surgery on his left shoulder. With Wentz and McCarthy out, the Vikings will turn to undrafted rookie Max Brosmer against Seattle.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated suggested that the Vikings coaching staff likes Brosmer, and the team could allow him to play in more games this season if he has a strong showing against the Seahawks, regardless of whether McCarthy passes the concussion protocol.
"If Max Brosmer, whom the coaches really like, plays well, then this could get even more complicated," Breer wrote. "That said, I’d trust Kevin O’Connell to do right by his quarterback here, and he’s said, over and over, how important it is to prioritize the confidence of a player at that position.
"Maybe he sees McCarthy’s confidence waning, and sticks with Brosmer for a while. Maybe he thinks the best thing to restore McCarthy’s confidence is to get him back on the field ASAP."
McCarthy has thrown for 929 yards, six touchdowns and 10 interceptions through his first six games. He's thrown two interceptions in four of his last five starts.
Breer doesn't think Minnesota will give up on McCarthy before 2026. However, the Vikings will likely look to add to the quarterback room in the offseason.
Maybe Brosmer can show the Vikings they don't need another quarterback.
Brosmer is 5-of-8 for 42 yards and one touchdown this season. Sunday will be a much different experience for the rookie than what he's handled so far as a backup, and the Seahawks defense won't be an easy test.
