By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a massive win on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts to improve to 6-5 on the season, and now gear up on a short week for a highly anticipated Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas is also coming off a huge win, rallying from a 21-0 deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 and move to 5-5-1 heading into Thursday.
The matchup has the potential to draw major viewership numbers given both teams’ popularity and the holiday spotlight. CBS will broadcast the showdown, meaning former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be on the call alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz.
On Tuesday, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes—who grew up in Texas—made an honest admission about meeting Romo, saying it was “cool” to meet him because Romo was the quarterback he “grew up watching.”

Romo’s career spanned 13 seasons, all with the Dallas Cowboys. He retired in 2016, and his successor ended up being current Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who burst onto the scene out of Mississippi State.
Romo joined CBS Sports in April 2017 and has since become one of the faces of NFL broadcasting, calling some of the biggest moments and matchups in recent memory. He teams with Jim Nantz on the network’s marquee “Game of the Week.”
This won’t be his first time calling a Cowboys game, despite most of their broadcasts being on Fox, and he’s no stranger to covering the Chiefs, having called more of their games than most other teams over the past eight years.
