By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Buffalo Bills (7-4) are coming off a sluggish performance in Week 12 against the Houston Texans, a game in which star quarterback Josh Allen was sacked eight times.
Buffalo currently has its back against the wall in the AFC East, trailing the New England Patriots, who sit atop the division with an NFL-best 10-2 record.
Ahead of Week 13’s showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bills made a major move on Tuesday, officially agreeing to a deal with recently released wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who had been playing this season for the New Orleans Saints.

Cooks is a 12-year NFL veteran and will be added immediately to the Bills’ active roster, meaning he could see action as soon as Sunday’s game. His arrival also raises questions about the future of second-year receiver Keon Coleman, who has been a healthy scratch in consecutive weeks.
Over his career, Cooks has played for five different teams, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards six times across four of them. He brings valuable veteran experience to a wide receiver room that has been inconsistent, which should benefit Allen.
...This season, Allen has thrown 18 touchdown passes and nine interceptions, with 14 of those touchdowns going to wide receivers. The team’s leading wideout is currently Khalil Shakir, who has 54 receptions for 564 yards and three touchdowns.
