DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) had her heart broken in last night’s Coronation Street by fiancé Carla Connor (Alison King) as Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) finally appeared to succeed in tearing them apart.

Lisa and daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) had spent years believing that Becky had been killed in a hit and run while on duty, so when she appeared in their front room earlier this year, it came as quite a shock.

Becky had returned with one goal, which was to win back her family. To do this, she needed Carla out of the way.

Becky had convinced Betsy to move back to Spain with her, but Lisa was taking more persuading, only agreeing to a holiday with Carla, which defeated the object for Becky.

Last night, Becky caused Lisa to stand Carla up by getting drunk. Carla had planned a romantic day with her fiancé so they could spend some quality alone time together, and was devastated when Lisa didn’t show.

This was the final nail in the coffin for Carla where Becky was concerned, and she decided to leave, telling Lisa that it was clear she had chosen Becky over her.

Lisa tried to make Carla see that it was her she loved, but Carla left, leaving Lisa heartbroken.

It now seems like Becky’s plan to get her wife back is set to come to fruition, but will Lisa give up on Carla that easily?

‘I think the love for Carla is too deep at this stage,’ actress Vicky Myers admitted.

‘But Lisa has been so manipulated by Costello, with him saying you don’t know how hard Becky tried to get hold of you and he put the block on it.

‘So we’ve got to remember that as far as Lisa is concerned, yes there might be holes in Becky’s story, but there’s the potential here that if she picks this scab, that a whole 20 years of her life may have been a lie.

‘I think her judgement is also blurred by the heartbreak she’s going through with Carla and the fact that she’s being told by her superior that this was all above board, it was an order from above. There’s a hierarchy, she can’t go and make waves, she needs her job and she’s got to be very careful.’

With Lisa not wanting to see the truth about Becky, Vicky admitted that the detective sergeant has no idea how dangerous her wife really is.

‘She lived with this person for 20 years, they’ve had a child together and they have grown up together, worked together. She knows that there is corruption in the police force, but no, no chance she thinks Becky is dangerous, it would never enter her head.

‘There might be question marks raised over Becky’s story, but again, Lisa would be veering down that route in regards to Costello and whoever gave the order from above, because Lisa still believes that the order came from above. Then when Becky’s going out to meet people, Lisa can’t be involved in that because she believes this is covert and undercover.’

In terms of where Becky and Lisa’s story is set to end, Vicky said: ‘[Amy’s] playing a fantastic villain with such subtlety and nuances and she’s a brilliant wind up merchant.
