The clip, posted by TikTok user @regmolina on November 23, has been viewed over 2 million times and liked more than 611,000 times in just days. Viewers on the platform praised the striking visual trick, which makes the iconic skyscraper appear to top the indoor Christmas tree perfectly from a head-on perspective.
Set to the holiday classic "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," the short video pans across the fully decorated Christmas tree standing in front of a large window. At first, it seems the tree is missing a topper. But as the camera moves into position, it reveals the tree is precisely aligned with the Empire State Building—its glittering peak perfectly situated above the tree, giving the illusion that the landmark is a part of the indoor display.
An overlaid text on the video reads: “When the Empire State Building is your tree topper,” while the video’s playful post caption added: “Hey bestie @Empire State Building.”
The Empire State Building's official TikTok account promptly responded with a request to reshare the lighthearted clip to its own grid.

The simple but effective trick has been cheered on by viewers, many of whom could not contain their envy over the lavish New York setup. Among the thousands of responses were viewers declaring the creator the unofficial winner of the holiday decorating season.
