Titled ‘One Of Us’, the song was written and performed by the McFly frontman for the new production of Paddington The Musical, which is currently previewing at the Savoy Theatre in London.

Released today (Friday November 28) via Decca, it arrives with a new music video that sees the singer and Paddington Bear himself at the Paddington Station in London. In the musical, it is sung by the character of Mrs Brown when Paddington goes missing, and has lyrics that centre on community and togetherness.

With the single release, the song is now in the running to reach the Christmas Number One spot on the charts, and a spokesperson for William Hill says it has a 6/1 chance of reaching peak position.

The full album, ‘Paddington The Musical – Original Cast Recording’ will be released in March 2026, and have collectible vinyl variants arriving in May. It features the complete West End cast, and full orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.

With his bid for Christmas Number One 2025, Fletcher faces competition from Kylie Minogue, who is sharing a 10th anniversary reissue of her ‘Kylie Christmas’ album with four brand new tracks. Her new festive dance anthem ‘XMAS’ is looking likely to top the charts, as are classic tracks from Wham!, The Pogues, and Mariah Carey.

“A Christmas Number One race isn’t complete without the arrival on the starting blocks of a bona fide legend,” The Official Charts Company Chief Executive, Martin Talbot said. “The vision of Paddington taking on this year’s diverse gaggle of new festive chart contenders, alongside seasonal classics from The Pogues, Mariah and Wham!, will be something to savour.”

Also competing for the prestigious slot in time for December 25 are Brian Eno, Celeste, Bastille‘s Dan Smith, Leigh-Anne and more – who have all joined forces for the charity single ‘Lullaby’.

That song comes from the same team behind the ‘Together For Palestine’ charity show in September, which saw performances from Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Nadine Shaw, Cat Burns, Rachel Chinouriri, Yasiin Bey, Dan Smith and more. All profits raised from the single will go to Choose Love’s ‘Together For Palestine Fund’, which supports three Palestinian-led organisations: Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service.
