Black Friday has arrived, which means we’re now probably looking at the best phone deals we’ll see all year. But as expected, things are moving a bit slower for the best iPhones. However, there are some modest discounts available, as you can now grab the iPhone 17 Pro with 512GB of storage for £1,269 (was £1,299) and the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 512GB of storage for £1,369 (was £1,399), both at John Lewis.

Admittedly, a £30 discount on a phone that costs quite a bit more than £1,000 might not seem like the best Black Friday deal – and to be frank, it isn’t – but cash discounts on current-gen iPhones are very hard to come by (hence my reaction to this recent iPhone Air deal). And with it being Black Friday, this is probably the best deal we can hope to see on these top-end iPhones during sales season.

Notably, John Lewis hasn’t discounted the base-model iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with 256GB of storage, nor has it discounted the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2TB of storage. However, the £30 discount does apply to the models with 1TB of storage.

Amazon is offering similar deals on the iPhone 17 Pro, but John Lewis is the better pick thanks to the retailer’s famous 2-year guarantee, which protects your purchase for double the typical timeframe.

John Lewis has knocked £30 off the price of the iPhone 17 Pro with 512GB of storage and, hey, we'll take it. Big cash discounts on iPhones are hard to come by, so this is probably as good as we'll get this Black Friday. Nevertheless, the iPhone 17 Pro is a superbly powerful compact phone, with a 6.3-inch display, the powerful A19 chipset, and a triple-camera system that beats all competitors. This model comes with 512GB of storage, giving you loads of room for apps, games, photos, and videos.

The big one: the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the best iPhone money can buy, and also the best camera phone on the market. This is a supremely powerful iPhone that ranks amongst the best phones on the market thanks to its 6.9-inch display, array of three 48MP rear cameras, and powerful A19 Pro chipset. A £30 discount is, honestly, nothing to write home about, but it's about as good as we're expecting to see for this absolute powerhouse, which in this configuration comes with 512GB of storage.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are the best iPhones Apple has ever made, with the Pro Max specifically holding the titles of TechRadar’s pick for the best iPhone and best camera phone, also popping up on our list of the best gaming phones.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are set apart most obviously by their display sizes. The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max gets an enlarged 6.9-inch display. The Pro Max also has a slightly larger battery, rated for 37 hours of video playback versus the Pro’s 31 hours.

Otherwise, the phones are nearly identical, with an aluminum frame and Ceramic Shield 2 glass construction, the powerful A19 Pro chipset, 12GB of RAM, and the best camera system on the market, with three 48MP sensors behind wide, ultra-wide, and 4x telephoto lenses. Personally, the iPhone 17 Pro would be the iPhone I’d buy if I were in the market for a new handset, because of its sharp yet compact display, powerful chipset, and class-leading cameras. I’m also a big fan of the Camera Control shutter button, which makes photography even more intuitive. It’s a shame that iPhones don’t see bigger discounts for Black Friday, but for a phone this brilliant, any kind of saving is a welcome sight.

That's even cheaper than Amazon's sale price on the 256GB model, so there's really no debate over which retailer you should choose. For £959, you'll get the customary mix of high-end power and excellent camera performance, as well as some of the best smartphone AI on the market right now. This deal also means the Galaxy S25 Ultra is some £440 cheaper than the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 512GB of storage, which currently retails for £1,399.
