Borderlands 4 has released its first DLC pack, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, for free for everyone, but instead of feeling joy, some people are angry. The DLC sets are included as part of more expensive versions of the game, like the Deluxe or Collector's Edition, leaving fans feeling out of pocket.

Except they shouldn't be worried. In exchange for giving away the first DLC for free, Gearbox is promising an extra DLC pack, which will be included with the more expensive editions next year. Some Deluxe Edition players praise the decision, with one Steam user writing, "Everyone is getting this for free, and we'll get another piece of dlc content. Good decision."

However, the majority of people are not so pleased with the announcement, though there were two very different reasons for this. Firstly, there is the aforementioned crowd that feels cheated that people will get something for free that they paid for, even if they are getting something extra in return. "I'm calling bullshit," one Twitter user writes. "I'm actually pissed… Now I gotta wait for my paid content..I would've saved my money."

By far the most common response is people complaining about the game's performance issues, with people saying that they would rather have bug fixes than DLC. "You should fix performance," one Steam user writes in response to the DLC announcement. "I'm fed up with fps drops and stuttering." Another says, "Can you ask the Arc Raiders devs how they optimized their game? Borderlands 4 runs so poorly in comparison. No excuse, as they are on the same engine."

Whatever your opinion, you can try out Borderlands 4's first Bounty Pack DLC right now, as long as you own the base game.
