Burnley hosts Chelsea on Saturday as the Premier League gets back into full swing following the international break. Victory would take the Blues up to second in the table, with Enzo Maresca’s men hoping to build on their sterling run of four wins from their last four league outings.
The Clarets, meanwhile, welcome the west Londoners who sit just one point above the relegation zone and are at major risk of slipping into the bottom three should they fail to come out on top. Each of Burnley’s last two games has resulted in defeat, having succumbed against Arsenal and West Ham United before the recent break.
Chelsea was stumped the last time these clubs met in March 2024 when Burnley twice came back from a goal down to snatch a point at Stamford Bridge. Republic of Ireland defender Dara O’Shea scored an 81st-minute equalizer in the capital to crush Chelsea’s spirits, with new heroes hoping to rise to the fore for Scott Parker’s side.
Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile are each set to continue their absences from the Chelsea squad ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off. Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto are also in doubt for the visitors, while Zeko Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts are poised to sit out for the hosts.
