Dean McCullough has spoken about how deeply affected he was by the vile death threats he received after his stint on I’m A Celebrity.

The radio presenter shared earlier this year that he had provided certain messages from online trolls to the police.

The 33-year-old said the ordeal left him fearing for his safety and scared to leave the house.

McCullough, who was the second to be eliminated from the jungle in 2024, has now spoken about the toll it took, telling Ranvir Singh on Lorraine that he was saddened to see the latest 2025 line-up of celebrities fly Down Under for the ongoing series.

He went on to explain that while he had been incredibly keen to take part in the show last year, and ‘grateful’ to be asked to do so by ITV in the first place, it had left him fundamentally changed.

‘When I saw all the campmates fly to Australia this year, it made me feel quite sad,’ he said.

‘The person I was flying to Australia was not the person I was coming back, because of the trolling. I had death threats and DMs and comments. My team were so worried.’

He went on to note that his I’m A Celebrity cast, which included Coleen Rooney, GK Barry and winner Danny Jones, have been incredibly supportive.

‘Everyone had my back in the jungle because they experienced the real me,’ he said in the ITV studio. ‘The people at home saw this two-dimensional person who got picked to do all the trials.’

He went on to say he was happy with ITV’s decision to change the rules around the Bushtucker Trials this year, so that celebrities can no longer be forced to do a string of them, since he was picked to do a number in a row on his series.

Earlier this year he reported the online threats to Greater Manchester Police, who subsequently launched an investigation.

Speaking to Daily Star Sunday when he first shared details of the type of threats being made against him, he said: ‘When I came out of the jungle, I started getting so many death threats.

‘People tell me they wish I’d got AIDS and died or that if they see me in the street they’re going to batter me.

‘People were saying they were to come to my work at the BBC and my house. It hurt. It was really heavy stuff.’

He continued: ‘There are 35 different accounts that were classed as having malicious contact and 12 of them were aggravated malicious contact, which is basically a death threat. They’re being identified.’
