The Los Angeles Dodgers will be getting one of the key members from their 2024 starting rotation back for next season.
After making 25 starts for the Dodgers in 2024, 27-year-old hurler Gavin Stone was placed on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, forcing him to miss the postseason. Stone underwent a season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, which held him out of the entire 2025 season.
While getting his jersey retired at his former high school, Stone shared that he has finished his rehab process and should be healthy to go for spring training.
...“I just finished my rehab process, so hopefully going into next spring training, it’ll be full-go and we’ll see where it takes us," Stone said in a video posted to YouTube by KAIT-TV in Arkansas. "I mean, coming back from surgery is hard enough. Trying to get back to where I'm throwing 95 plus, competing for a spot in the big leagues, it's a grind. You know, love for the game is always there, so I can't wait to get back out there and pitch."
The Dodgers' starting rotation will look a lot different than the last time Stone pitched. Los Angeles is projected to have a starting rotation that will include some combination of Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, Rōki Sasaki, Emmet Sheehan, Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto
Stone was solid for the Dodgers in 2024, posting a 3.53 ERA while striking out 116 batters, but may not have a solidified spot in the starting rotation. He may be a solid option for the bullpen, which was one area the team could use some improvement in. It will be interesting to see what the Dodgers decide to do with the 27-year-old hurler, but it's positive to see Stone progressing in his return from injury.
