Todd Grimshaw is left all alone (Picture: ITV)
A shocking and violent incident that occurs this week in Coronation Street leaves Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) trapped in his own home, and it’s all because of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
Theo has been manipulating Todd for months now, and his need to control every aspect of his partner’s life has also seen Theo physically abuse Todd. Earlier this year, he force-fed Todd a kebab and recently, after Todd damaged his new car, Theo reacted by pouring an entire bottle of milk over his head.
‘I don’t think it’s ever premeditated, he’s not a psychopath, he’s a narcissist I’d say’, star James Cartwright explained.
‘He does these things in that moment of rage and then the cycle of self hatred starts, where he loathes himself, he starts drinking, and then the cycle continues again. Very often he blames Todd for it. He’s made Todd the scapegoat for all the things that have gone wrong in his life since he met him. In the space of 10 months he’s been through more than a lot do in 10 years, he’s got divorced, lost his children, his business has failed and these are enormous life events.

So then when it’s all gone wrong, he’s turned around and decided this is your fault. When he loses his temper, he just erupts, and then he has to live with the consequence of what he’s done which is where the self loathing then comes in.’
Towards the end of this week, another situation occurs at the flat that sees Todd’s life in danger as a result of Theo’s actions. In the aftermath of this, Theo is keen to hide Todd away from the world and persuades him to stay in the flat for a few days, pointing out that it’ll prevent people from seeing his injuries and jumping to conclusions.
As Todd complies, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) is puzzled to learn that Todd has gone to London and cancelled their plans.

Completely alone, Todd peers out of the flat window to see people passing by. However, when someone looks up, a startled Todd is forced to hide.
The person who spots Todd is Summer, who then finds Theo and tells him that someone has broken into the flat. Without any choice, Theo is forced to head back home and check it out.
Having heard about the burglary, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) calls at the flat. Just as he enters, Todd emerges from the shower. With visible facial injuries, Todd is forced to say that he returned from London not too long ago, and the cut on his head as a result of a drunken afternoon.
When Dev leaves, Theo presents Todd with a fitness watch and tells him to get back with his training and set himself a 10k goal.
