Debbie Webster’s big day is looming (Picture: ITV)
Beloved Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is a busy woman in Coronation Street. As well as running her businesses, she is also planning her wedding to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).
Debbie hopes the lead up to her big day will be full of fun and laughter, but little does she know some classic Corrie Christmas based drama is on her way.
Debbie, as viewers know, was recently diagnosed with early on-set dementia.
The storyline kicked off in April when she began to experience symptoms including memory lapses, as well as changes in her behaviour. Assuming it might be related to the menopause, she booked an appointment at a private clinic.

Emotional scenes ensued in the weeks that followed, as a neurologist formally diagnosed her with a life-changing illness.
Debbie chose to keep the diagnosis to herself for quite a while. Believing that Ronnie deserved better, she also ended their relationship, but the characters got back together once Ronnie learnt of the diagnosis and reassured Debbie that he’d be by her side every step of the way.
As the festive period looms, Debbie’s hen do turns out to be more of a hen don’t as a shocking death is set to rock the already fractured Webster clan.
Carl (Jonathan Howard) is left reeling from the news, but is Debbie hiding a terrible secret that could completely tear everything apart?
While Carl drowns his sorrows, a liaison with James Bailey (Jason Callender) threatens to expose all. She faces the ultimate betrayal, but will a suspicious Abi Webster (Sally Carman) uncover the shocking truth about Carl’s dalliance with James?

As the net closes in on him, will Carl stick around to celebrate Debbie’s big day and emotional performance with the Dementia Choir, or will he do a runner?
‘It’s going to be a really gorgeous, joyful wedding. It’s very Debbie in its execution. It smacks of Debbie being lovable and a bit out there’, Corrie boss Kate Brooks said.
‘Also, we’ll get to see the debut of the dementia choir that Debbie’s been so invested and involved in. She’s focusing on that because she wants to enjoy the time she has here. She wants to enjoy her love for Ronnie. She’s desperate for her family to get back on an even keel, for her brothers to be united again.

‘She navigating all this as well as still running a successful business. This story is really in its infancy. And yes, there are some times when she will forget things but she’s living with it.
‘You know, she’s still got a life. She’s not just a person who has dementia. She’s not defined by it at all. Her stories are not defined by it either, for a really long time. So we are just enjoying Debbie being Debbie.’
Previous spoiler pictures have confirmed that Carl will feature in some tense scenes around the time of Debbie’s wedding – is this the moment his many secrets are exposed?
