Post Malone made a touching tribute to NFL star Marshawn Kneeland during his Halftime Show performance.

The American singer and rapper performed at the AT&T Stadium in Texas yesterday (Thursday November 27) as part of the Thanksgiving Day NFL game between the Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs.

For the performance, he wore an all-navy outfit, the signature colour of the Cowboys team, and one side of his jacket had the number 94 written on it – the jersey number of the team’s defensive end, who died earlier this month.

Kneeland died by suicide overnight on November 5-6, according to police. He was 24 years old.

Post Malone joins the full Cowboys team in paying homage to the late American football star, as each player will be completing the season by wearing a number 94 decal on their helmets. They have also worn shirts showing Kneeland’s face during previous games and held a moment of silence for him (via USA Today).

“I love you so very much, Dallas, Texas,” he told the crowd after his performance. “Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the best team in the world, the Dallas Cowboys.”

“I hope everyone has a great night, I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving, and I love you more than I can ever say,” he added, also making another nod to Kneeland by saying: “We love you 94”.

Kneeland died by suicide after a police chase, and his death was shared by The Dallas Cowboys the following morning.

“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” they said. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

The Independent also shares that the late football player’s agent, Jonathan Perzleyk, described the loss as “a pain I can hardly put into words.”

In a statement, the NFL also paid respects and said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and his teammates.”
